Harvest Moon

September 24, 2007

Harvest Moon over Massachusetts Avenue

There is never a September in my life that passes slowly. October is perhaps even more quickened. Fall in New England is hard to beat, it’s true. And happily, this is my second year on the job. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t have a difficult first year.

I have a lot to report, including a recent trip to Microsoft Research’s Social Computing Symposium, which was simply the *best* gathering of academics and industry that I’ve ever been a part of. My new videogames class has started off with a bang, so to speak, with 30 students who are active and engaged. It’s almost as if the class teaches itself. The grant project I work on recently hired a new manager to run the project, and she’s fantastic. And finally, I’m seeing now that there are some promising job prospects for next year, which is fortunate (yes, I’m on the job market this year).

All in all, I’m starting to pull together some loose ends from the past year. Frayed as they may be, they’re cooperating. Oh, and did I mention there’s a wicked fantastic moon this week? I am moonstruck, it’s true. Thank Yahoo! for Flickr and lots and lots of harvest moon photos.
